Science for Kids - Proving Larger Issues

My science class last week was exceptional, probably the most fun I have had in school since I came up here to Lakehead U. We were given a tub of water and a balloon filled with ice, and had to make observations. We were provided with other tools, an ice pick, food colouring, a hammer and so on. well, after we had watched the ice in the tub for a while, we pulled it out and set it on the tray. We then used the food colouring to determine how deep the fissures in the ice were. It was amazing, we succeeded in proving one of the theories on rapid ice flow melt in the arctic and antarctic circles. We poured the warm food colouring onto the top of the ice block, where it pooled and pitted the outer surface. As the food colouring sat, it began to enter the cracks in the ice, and penetrated to the core of the block. Once inside the ice, it began to widen the fractures, and to create small "caverns" inside the ice, speeding up the melting process on the inside of the ice block.
This showed, without a doubt, that the theory on the melting going on in the polar regions is true, that as the ice melts, that liquid runoff will seep into the deep ice and weaken the structure of it. It will eat away at the ice from the inside, and will speed up the melting process. Anyone who is a disbeliever needs only a large block of ice, and some coloured water, to prove that this is true. A simple childrens science class, but it has HUGE implecations for the world at large. You can prove a major global issue in the classroom, that is very educational!

FUCK!

Had my heart broken today....not sure when I will learn, but it wasn't today, thats for sure. Don't let anyone in, then no one can tear you up inside, thats my advice...
