Ishmael's Tears
Well, it is Christmas, which is a day of great commercial excess here in the West, hidden in the guise of a day that should be about peace and brotherly love towards all of our fellow man. In the spirit of that "true" meaning of Christmas, which is nye on forgotten, I am posting a song I wrote recently, called Ishmael's Tears. I hope it is enjoyed.
The song is Capoed on the first fret, and goes G, D, Cadd9
*Chorus*
Ishmael's tears are falling in the desert
As unfamiliar as rain from the sky
Its been 60 years of this terror
As people look on and want to know why
It didn't matter, he was just a boy
He was from the wrong side of the line
So they took aim and shot him last Monday
And the President said "It's their fault, not mine"
Chorus
It all started with some vague need for Zion
And a world with a conscience to clear
So they said "Lets give them a homeland
So long as it's far from here"
Chorus
So they prettied up this little slice of wasteland
With no regard for the people who called it home
They were forced out at the end of a gunbarrel
A broken people with no place left to roam
Chorus
Its been 60 years of this bloodshed
As Palestine looks on and deserves to know why
Well, thats it. I hope it is enjoyed. Merry Christmas, Happy Eid, Happy Hannukah, etc. ONE LOVE.
